Gorgoni Palace
Gorgoni Palace is a very historical old house near Sant'Oronzo Square in the heart of the baroque city centre.
On the ground floor of the palace (on the mezzanine level) some large bright rooms have recently been renovated with particular attention being paid to detail. The doors have been varnished in a soft light blue as they originally were. The star vaulted ceilings are 6 metres high and the walls are made of "pietra leccese"(Lecce stone), some are plastered, others have been left in their natural state.
The floor is a light colored durmast parquet which adds to the very cosy warm environment. The furniture is classic, but very refined; in addition, you can admire some old pieces such as lamps and chests of drawers. All rooms are independent with a private bath.
The bright and suggestive curtains will let you enjoy your privacy.
In a pleasant short walk (within a few hundred metre distance) our guests can reach the most famous historical sites of Lecce: Santa Croce, Celestini Palace, the Cathedral, the old Greek Theatre and the Benedictine Monastery: the oldest Monastery of the city. It was founded by a Norman abbess in the XI century and nowadays you can still pick up a delicious almond paste cake in the traditional shapes of fish or lamb from the old-fashioned system of the 'wheel'.
As you can see from everything we've told you here the palace deserves your visit. In fact, we 'll guarantee a pleasant and a memorable stay.
